The Hellenic Navy (HN) (Greek: Πολεμικό Ναυτικό, Polemikó Naftikó, abbreviated ΠΝ) is the naval force of Greece, part of the Greek Armed Forces. The modern Greek navy has its roots in the naval forces of various Aegean Islands, which fought in the Greek War of Independence. During the periods of monarchy (1833–1924 and 1936–1973) it was known as the Royal Navy (Βασιλικόν Ναυτικόν, Vasilikón Naftikón, abbreviated ΒΝ).The total displacement of all the navy's vessels is approximately 150,000 tons.The motto of the Hellenic Navy is "Μέγα το της Θαλάσσης Κράτος" from Thucydides' account of Pericles' oration on the eve of the Peloponnesian War. Pericles' words are written across the top of the emblem. "The navy, as it represents a necessary weapon for Greece, should only be created for war and aim to victory."...............The Hellenic Merchant Marine refers to the Merchant Marine of Greece, engaged in commerce and transportation of goods and services universally. It consists of the merchant vessels owned by Greek civilians, flying either the Greek flag or a flag of convenience. ]Συνελήφθη ο εκδότης Γιώργος Κουρής....[ 3351

Συνελήφθη από την Ασφάλεια για χρέη προς το Δημόσιο ο εκδότης Γιώργος Κουρής. Ο κ. Κουρής κρατείται στον έβδομο όροφο της ΓΑΔΑ.

Σε βάρος του εκκρεμούν τέσσερις κατηγορίες, μια για πολεοδομικά χρέη που ήδη αποπλήρωσε και τέσσερις για χρέη προς την εφορία. Το συνολικό ύψος των οφειλών ανέρχεται σε 2,5 εκατομμύρια ευρώ.

Το παράδοξο είναι πώς ενώ ο κ. Κουρής βρίσκεται με περιοριστικούς όρους εκτός φυλακής μετά την αποφυλάκιση του τον προηγούμενο Απρίλιο για την υπόθεση του Αλτερ,η αστυνομία επέλεξε σήμερα να τον συλλάβει με έναν άκρως σουρεαλιστικό τρόπο.

Συγκεκριμένα ένας αστυνομικός είχε «ντυθεί» ταξιτζής ενώ ένας συνάδελφός τους προσποιείτο τον πελάτη του εντός πραγματικού ταξί(!) το οποίο ήταν σταθμευμένο έξω από την οικία του εκδότη.

Μόλις ο κ. Κουρής ξεκίνησε για το γραφείο του το «ταξί» τον ακολούθησε και του έκλεισε το δρόμο σε απόσταση περίπου 100 μέτρων από το σπίτι και οι αστυνομικοί τον ανάγκασαν να επιβιβαστεί στο δικό τους μασκαρεμένο όχημα.

Παραμένει άγνωστο γιατί η αστυνομία επέλεξε μια τόσο ευφάνταστη μέθοδο για να συλλάβει τον 77χρονο εκδότη, ενώ δεν έχει γίνει γνωστό αν η αστυνομία υποχρέωσε τον κ. Κουρή να πληρώσει και την κούρσα μέχρι τη ΓΑΔΑ...

Ήδη δόθηκαν παραγγελίες για ναυπήγηση 19 νέων πλοίων - Αποκτήθηκαν πάνω από 15 second hand

Εντονη δραστηριότητα από τις πρώτες ημέρες του νέου χρόνου επιδεικνύουν οι Ελληνες εφοπλιστές τόσο στην αγορά πλοίων από «δεύτερο χέρι» όσο και στις νέες παραγγελίες νεότευκτων.

Τα ελληνικά εφοπλιστικά συμφέροντα φαίνεται να κινούνται και τις δέκα πρώτες ημέρες του νέου έτους, με τους ρυθμούς του 2013, έτος κατά το οποίο κατέρριψαν κάθε προηγούμενο ρεκόρ σε αγορές και ναυπηγήσεις πλοίων, επενδύοντας συνολικά πάνω από 19 δισ. δολ., ανανεώνοντας το στόλο, ο οποίος εκτιμάται σε αξία στο σύνολό του στα 101 δισ. δολ., σύμφωνα με την εταιρεία VesselsValue.com.

Το επενδυτικό «κρεσέντο» συνεχίστηκε και τις πρώτες ημέρες του Ιανουαρίου, καθώς ελληνικά συμφέροντα απέκτησαν στη second hand αγορά πάνω από 15 πλοία, επενδύοντας περισσότερα από 300 εκατ. δολ., ενώ δόθηκαν παραγγελίες για τη ναυπήγηση 19 νεότευκτων πλοίων. Σύμφωνα με το ναυλομεσιτικό οίκο Golden Destiny, οι αγορές second hand είναι κατά 150% περισσότερες απ’ ό,τι την τελευταία εργάσιμη εβδομάδα του Δεκεμβρίου, ενώ ο αριθμός των νέων παραγγελιών ήταν αυξημένος κατά 280% σε σύγκριση με μία εβδομάδα πριν.

Στις αγορές second hand οι ναυλομεσιτικοί οίκοι φαίνεται να ξεχωρίζουν την επένδυση ελληνικής ναυτιλιακής εταιρείας, για την αγορά en block τεσσάρων υπό ναυπήγηση bulk carriers, 64.000 dwt το ένα αντί 30 εκατ. το ένα, τα οποία αναμένεται να παραδοθούν εντός του 2014. Ο ναυλομεσιτικός οίκος Compass Maritime αναφέρει ότι πρόκειται για την Thenamaris του κ. Κωνσταντίνου Μαρτίνου. Συνολικά οι Ελληνες αγόρασαν 15 πλοία (12 bulkers και 3 δεξαμενόπλοια).

Σε νέες παραγγελίες προχώρησαν, σύμφωνα με την Golden Destiny, η Metrostar για δύο δεξαμενόπλοια τύπου VLCC (320.000 dwt το ένα) στα ναυπηγεία Hyundai, η Tomasos Brothers για 2 δεξαμενόπλοια τύπου MR (50.400 dwt) στα ναυπηγεία Samjin της Κίνας και η Central Mare Monaco για έξι MR (τέσσερα 50.000 dwt και δύο 40.000 dwt) στα ναυπηγεία Hyundai Vinashin στο Βιετνάμ. Στα πλοία ξηρού φορτίου καταγράφηκαν οι παραγγελίες της Golden Union για δύο kamsarmax (82.000 dwt) στα κινεζικά ναυπηγεία Avic Weihai, της Target Marine για δύο ultramax (63.000 dwt) στα κινεζικά ναυπηγεία Zhejiang και της Diana Shipping για ένα kamsarmax (82.000 dwt) στα ναυπηγεία Yangzhou Dayang της Κίνας.

Στα containerships η Οceanbulk του Πέτρου Παππά τοποθέτησε άλλη μία παραγγελία για δύο πλοία στα ναυπηγεία της Hyundai, ενώ δύο πλοία ειδικού τύπου παρήγγειλε η Golden Enegry. Στο μεταξύ, σύμφωνα με την online υπηρεσία αξιολόγησης πλοίων VesselsValue.com, η αξία του ελληνόκτητου στόλου, που είναι πρώτος παγκοσμίως με όρους μεταφορικής ικανότητας (dwt) εκτιμάται στα 101,039 δισ. δολ. (με ημερομηνία 8 Ιανουαρίου) και βρίσκεται μπροστά απ’ όλες τις υπόλοιπες ναυτιλιακές δυνάμεις του πλανήτη.

Στη δεύτερη θέση βρίσκεται ο ιαπωνικός στόλος με αξία 89,11 δισ. δολ. και στην τρίτη θέση ο κινεζικός με αξία 72,6 δισ. δολ. Την τέταρτη θέση καταλαμβάνει ο γερμανόκτητος στόλος, η αξία του οποίου ανέρχεται στο ποσό των 53,2 δισ. δολ. και ακολουθούν η Σιγκαπούρη, η Νορβηγία και η Νότια Κορέα, με στόλους αξίας 30,4 δισ. δολ., 29,6 δισ. δολ. και 28,6 δισ. δολ. αντίστοιχα. Η αξία του παγκόσμιου στόλου ανέρχεται στα 659,6 δισ. δολ.

Ανά κατηγορία

Ανά τύπο πλοίου την πρώτη θέση με βάση την αξία τους καταλαμβάνουν οι Ελληνες στα δεξαμενόπλοια (αξία στόλου33,67 δισ. δολ.) και στα πλοία μεταφοράς υγροποιημένου φυσικού αερίου (LNG Carriers), η αξία των οποίων ανέρχεται στα 11,05 δισ. δολ, ενώ στα Bulkers προηγούνται οι Ιάπωνες (50,6 δισ. δολ.) και στα containerships οι Γερμανοί (32,65 δισ. δολ.). Τέλος, στα πλοία μεταφοράς υγραερίου (LPG) την πρώτη θέση καταλαμβάνουν οι Νορβηγοί (αξία στόλου 4,31 δισ. δολ.).

People surround a statue of Soviet state founder Vladimir Lenin that was toppled by protesters during a rally organized by supporters of EU integration in Kyiv on December 8, possibly setting off the rash of Lenin-idolatry abuse.

Statues of the Bolshevik leader have fallen victim to a string of assaults in Ukraine that have left them missing limbs, splattered with paint, covered in insults and swastikas, bullet-riddled, and even smeared with excrement.

In some cases, the statues were knocked off their pedestals, a feat requiring a considerable amount of physical exertion.

At least four have already been vandalized since the beginning of the year, including one statue toppled in the city of Berdychiv and another daubed with black paint near Odesa.

Communists have pinned the blame squarely on nationalists.

Seeing red: Communist flags fly next to the same statue of Lenin in Kyiv in 2009, three years before the "Euromaidan" unrest swept it off its feet.

Ukrainian lawmaker Igor Miroshnichenko, a member of the ultranationalist Svoboda party who personally felled a Lenin statue in the northeastern city of Okhtyrka last year, says this is, in fact, correct.

"Of course the dismantling of Lenin statues is directly linked to nationalists," Miroshnichenko says. "Any Ukrainian who loves his nation, remembers and respects its history, who remembers his ancestors, who loves and fights for his state, freedom, and independence, is a nationalist."

Last month, a group of masked individuals carrying a flag of the Svoboda party toppled a statue of Lenin in downtown Kyiv.

Miroshnichenko sees the rise in vandalism against Lenin monuments as a direct result of the ongoing pro-European protests against President Viktor Yanukovych's decision to shelve a landmark association pact with the European Union.

Ukrainians, he says, are increasingly frustrated by what his party describes as Moscow's aggressive attempts to bring their country back under its yoke.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian communists are playing down the incidents as isolated acts of hooliganism.

Communist lawmaker Oleksandr Prisyazhnyuk is confident that his party will raise enough funds to restore the damaged statues.

"People consider that statues of Lenin should exist," Prisyazhnyuk says. "At any rate, it's for the local community -- and not for a bunch of visiting vandals who think they can get away with everything -- to decide on the fate of monuments."

Foes of Lenin, however, still have a lot of work ridding Ukraine of his effigies.

There are currently more than 1,300 statues of the Bolshevik leader scattered across the country.
