.Earth Hour in Geece
A breathtaking sight: lights out at the Acropolis during Earth Hour 2013
in contrast to the brightly lit city of Athens, Greece.
The
city of Athens is calling on citizens to participate in the global
“Earth Hour” initiative by switching off their lights on Saturday, March
29, from 20:30 to 21.30.
Earth Hour is an awareness-raising effort concerning climate change and energy conservation, during which people around the world switch off their lights for more than one hour.
This year more than 157 countries and regions will take part in the global campaign against climate change, “Earth Hour”, with the slogan “Use your power to make change a reality.”
Greece participates for the sixth consecutive year in this campaign, which started in Australia in 2007 on the initiative of WWF.
