The Hellenic Navy (HN) (Greek: Πολεμικό Ναυτικό, Polemikó Naftikó, abbreviated ΠΝ) is the naval force of Greece, part of the Greek Armed Forces. The modern Greek navy has its roots in the naval forces of various Aegean Islands, which fought in the Greek War of Independence. Pericles' words are written across the top of the emblem. "The navy, as it represents a necessary weapon for Greece, should only be created for war and aim to victory."...............The Hellenic Merchant Marine refers to the Merchant Marine of Greece, engaged in commerce and transportation of goods and services universally. It consists of the merchant vessels owned by Greek civilians, flying either the Greek flag or a flag of convenience. Greece is a maritime nation by tradition, as shipping is arguably the oldest form of occupation of the Greeks and a key element of Greek economic activity since the ancient times. Nowadays, Greece has the largest merchant fleet in the world, which is the second largest contributor to the national economy after tourism and forms the backbone of world shipping. The Greek fleet flies a variety of flags, however some Greek shipowners gradually return to Greece following the changes to the legislative framework governing their operations and the improvement of infrastructure.

Japan : Sedai earthquake toll

Japan 8.9 earthquake.

I didn't know till a jap friend in Tokyo posted on Facebook at abt 4pm. And from the news it seems like a classic example of earthquakes, with all the tsunami generated, fires breaking out etc. It must be quite bad considering it is japan - good structures and all.

It's also the first time that I actually feel for people affected by such disasters. Feel kind of bad saying this...

I guess it's because I personally know some people there from the jap trip, that's why I'm kind of worried for them since the impacts are so widespread. The videos are really scary, cars flow in the waters like toys - it's the first time i've seen so many cars floating in the water.

Also, a whirlpool was generated after the earthquake! Imagine the 4 million homes without electricity and those that can't get home. It's winter there so it'll be pretty cold too..

I'm glad though, that my buddy and a few friends are fine. 日本での皆さん please take care!

Edit: getting worried, at least 200 * dead, & 88000 missing. Hopefully all are just stuck somewhere outside.
