Defense minister: Iran developing 2,000-km-range missile |

Tehran, Nov 27, IRNA - Iran is developing 2,000-km-range missiles named, 'Ashoura' and 'Qadr', Minister of Defense Brigadier General Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar said on Tuesday. Speaking at a ceremony held to honor the ministry's Basij (volunteer) forces, the minister said that the long-range missiles were at the stage of production by experts of the Defense Ministry. "The missiles are being made in line with Iran's deterrent and defense doctrine," Mohammad-Najjar said. "Various types of anti-armour missiles, rockets, tanks and vessels have been designed and developed by experts of the Defense Ministry," added the minister. He said the Sa'eqeh (Thunderbolt) and Azarakhsh (Thunder) fighter planes, Ghadir submarine and Mowj (Wave) destroyer were other instances of major achievements made by the ministry's experts in developing different types of vessels. Mohammad-Najjar stressed that new plans were prepared for maximizing the power of Iran's naval force. |
