The Hellenic Navy (HN) (Greek: Πολεμικό Ναυτικό, Polemikó Naftikó, abbreviated ΠΝ) is the naval force of Greece, part of the Greek Armed Forces. The modern Greek navy has its roots in the naval forces of various Aegean Islands, which fought in the Greek War of Independence. During the periods of monarchy (1833–1924 and 1936–1973) it was known as the Royal Navy (Βασιλικόν Ναυτικόν, Vasilikón Naftikón, abbreviated ΒΝ).The total displacement of all the navy's vessels is approximately 150,000 tons.The motto of the Hellenic Navy is "Μέγα το της Θαλάσσης Κράτος" from Thucydides' account of Pericles' oration on the eve of the Peloponnesian War. The Hellenic Navy's emblem consists of an anchor in front of a crossed Christian cross and trident, with the cross symbolizing Greek Orthodoxy, and the trident symbolizing Poseidon, the god of the sea in Greek mythology. Pericles' words are written across the top of the emblem. "The navy, as it represents a necessary weapon for Greece, should only be created for war and aim to victory."...............The Hellenic Merchant Marine refers to the Merchant Marine of Greece, engaged in commerce and transportation of goods and services universally. It consists of the merchant vessels owned by Greek civilians, flying either the Greek flag or a flag of convenience. Greece is a maritime nation by tradition, as shipping is arguably the oldest form of occupation of the Greeks and a key element of Greek economic activity since the ancient times. Ο Χιου Τζάκμαν δηλώνει Ελληνας. Βλέπετε υποστηρίζει ότι η καταγωγή του είναι ελληνική και μάλιστα από την Ιο. Το ελληνικό του αίμα τον προκαλεί βαθιά επιθυμία να επισκεφτεί την Ελλάδα για άλλη μια φορά και ειδικά το νησί από όπου έλκει την καταγωγή του, την Ίο.

Ο Τζάκμαν βρέθηκε στη Μελβούρνη για την πρεμιέρα της νέας του ταινίας X-men: Days of Future Past όπου υποδύεται και πάλι τον ρόλο του Wolverine.
.
Κατά το πέρασμά του από το κόκκινο χαλί και ενώ τον αποθέωναν πολυάριθμες θαυμάστριες και θαυμαστές, δεχόταν συγχρόνως και ερωτήσεις από δημοσιογράφους.
.
Η δημοσιογράφος του Νέου Κόσμου, Μάγια Τζόβιτς (Maja Jovic) του συστήθηκε λέγοντας ότι εκπροσωπεί μια ελληνική εφημερίδα αλλά δεν πρόλαβε καν να του υποβάλει ερώτηση.
.
Χειμαρρώδης ο Τζάκμαν της απάντησε: «Ξέρεις πως έχω κι εγώ ελληνικό αίμα; Ο προπάππους μου ήταν Έλληνας, Μπέλας το επώνυμο και καταγόταν από την Ίο».
.
Ο Χιου Τζάκμαν πρόσθεσε πως αν και έχει επισκεφθεί στο παρελθόν την Ελλάδα, εντούτοις δεν έχει πάει στην Ίο.
«Ο πατέρας μου και ο αδελφός του πήγαν πολλές φορές. Εγώ όχι. Τώρα όμως είμαι έτοιμος να πάω. Το θέλω πολύ. Να γνωρίσω το νησί του προπάππου μου. Και θα το κάνω» είπε.

Η βραδιά της πρεμιέρας στη Μελβούρνη είχε φιλανθρωπικό χαρακτήρα. Τα έσοδα διατέθηκαν υπέρ του Ιδρύματος Καταπολέμησης του Καρκίνου ( Fight Canser Foundation) του οποίου ο Τζάκμαν είναι πρεσβευτής.

Τα σημάδια από την πρόσφατη, δεύτερη, αφαίρεση μελανώματος από τη μύτη του Τζάκμαν ήταν εμφανή στην πρεμιέρα της Μελβούρνης.
Ο ίδιος έχει κάνει έκκληση στους ανθρώπους να χρησιμοποιούν αντηλιακό.
