Kodiak crash leaves plane hanging like a Christmas ornament
Just before 1 p.m. this afternoon a passenger plane taking off from Kodiak clipped the trees at the end of the runway. The plane ended up hanging nose-down in the trees, which complicated the rescue effort.
The plane was carrying three people, two passengers and a pilot. A Trooper press release said that two of the people have been taken to the hospital.
The plane had to be stabilized before the people could be rescued, according to a state Department of Transportation spokesman who spoke with the Anchorage Daily News.
According to the ADN, the plane is a Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander.
