Convention Post No. 3
24-4-2010., While the party hammers away on the rules and deals with a credential challenge I'm going to post a little thing on immigration.
Spoke with Jim Gilchrist of the Minuteman Project about his endorsement of Tim Bridgewater for U.S. Senate. Bridgewater wants to double the immigration enforcement budget. The endorsement doesn't bring any direct cash, other than the MP encouraging people to support Bridgewater.
Doubling the immigration budget would cost somewhere around $15 billion (best I could do on a quick Google seach). Bridgewater, who has been pounding the pulpit on smaller government, said he sees it as a national security issue.
"At the border we've got to spend some money," Bridgewater said.
I'm not saying Bridgewater's got the Big Mo', but he does seem to be coming out the best on the Bennett/Lee military issue that's been in the press for a week or two.
Anything can happen in the last two weeks of the race to the state convention.
