The Hellenic Navy (HN) (Greek: Πολεμικό Ναυτικό, Polemikó Naftikó, abbreviated ΠΝ) is the naval force of Greece, part of the Greek Armed Forces. The modern Greek navy has its roots in the naval forces of various Aegean Islands, which fought in the Greek War of Independence. During the periods of monarchy (1833–1924 and 1936–1973) it was known as the Royal Navy (Βασιλικόν Ναυτικόν, Vasilikón Naftikón, abbreviated ΒΝ).The total displacement of all the navy's vessels is approximately 150,000 tons.The motto of the Hellenic Navy is "Μέγα το της Θαλάσσης Κράτος" from Thucydides' account of Pericles' oration on the eve of the Peloponnesian War. Συγκεκριμένα φταίνε ο Άγιος Ιωάννης, οι Τρεις Ιεράρχες  και οι Άγιοι πολιούχοι κάθε πόλης

 Η είδηση:
Η πρόθεση Αρβανιτόπουλου, σύμφωνα με το δημοσίευμα, είναι η κατάργηση δύο αργιών, αυτή της 7ης Ιανουαρίου, της επομένη των Φώτων και εορτής του Αγίου Ιωάννη, η οποία έχει προστεθεί τα τελευταία χρόνια ως ημέρα με κλειστά τα σχολεία και επίσης, εκείνη των Τριών Ιεραρχών, των Αγίων των Ελληνικών Γραμμάτων, στις 30 Ιανουαρίου.

Υπάρχει επίσης σκέψη να καταργηθούν και οι τοπικές αργίες, όπως εκείνες των πολιούχων κάθε πόλης.

Σημειωση:
Να είστε σίγουροι ότι, μόλις καταργηθούν οι προς τιμή τους αργίες, η παιδεία θα πάρει τα πάνω της, τα σχολεία μας θα πάρουν την πρώτη θέση ανάμεσα σε όλα τα σχολεία του «πολιτισμένου» κόσμου, που ούτε από Αγίους ξέρουν ούτε από Ιερά και Όσια.

    Japanese man arrested after trying to kill woman with poisoned shoes Police in Japan on Thursday arrested a 40 year old man for attempting to kill a woman by poisoning her through her shoes. Tatsujiro Fukasawa was found to have put hydrofluoric acid in woman’s left shoe in December of last year, in addition to regularly stalking her.

  • The woman, a co-worker of Fukasawa, is still alive, but reports say that she developed gangrene on her left foot.

    It’s still unknown how badly she was injured, or if she need to have an amputation as a result of the potentially life-threatening condition. Hydrofluoric acid is often used in oil refining or to dissolve unnecessary rock, but the highly corrosive chemical can also be absorbed through the skin and into a person’s blood stream, possibly causing systemic failure or a heart attack.

    Jiji Press reported that investigators said Fukusawa is denying the allegations.
    Police are still trying to determine the man’s motive for attempting to kill the woman in such a bizarre way. They do believe he managed to get his hands on the poison at his workplace, however.

    While attempted murder is certainly a more serious crime, this incident seems to ring familiar to several months ago when a man stole a high school girl’s sock while she was wearing it. The 16 year old student said the grown man came out of nowhere and grabbed her ankle, pushing her to the ground, and the simply pulled the sock off her foot and ran away.

Με τους συγγενείς των πεσόντων ηρώων στα Ίμια (pρόκειται για τον υποπλοίαρχο Παναγιώτη Βλαχάκο, τον υποπλοίαρχο Χριστόδουλο Καραθανάση και τον αρχικελευστή Έκτορα Γιαλοψό) συναντήθηκε ο πρωθυπουργός Αντώνης Σαμαράς στο Μέγαρο Μαξίμου.

«Κάνουμε το αυτονόητο. Τιμούμε τη μνήμη των τριών παλικαριών που πριν 18 χρόνια έπεσαν για την πατρίδα. Για την ακεραιότητα και για την αξιοπρέπεια της πατρίδας μας. Αυτό είναι χρέος τιμής για την πολιτεία και χρέος ψυχής για όλους μας» τους είπε ο πρωθυπουργός.

Ο Ιωάννης Καραθανάσης, γιος του κυβερνήτη Χριστόδουλου Καραθανάση, ευχαρίστησε τον κ. Σαμαρά.



«Αυτοί οι τρεις άνθρωποι έδωσαν τη ζωή τους για κάποια ιδανικά που είμαι σίγουρος ότι τα συμμερίζεστε και πιστεύω ότι με την προσήλωση σας σε αυτά θα βοηθήσετε τους ανθρώπους και πολίτες της Ελλάδας και θα δώσετε μια ώθηση στη δική μου γενιά και τις επόμενες» είπε στον πρωθυπουργό.



Επίσης, βγαίνοντας από το Μέγαρο Μαξίμου, δήλωσε ότι ο Αντώνης Σαμαράς ήταν ο πρώτος πρωθυπουργός που ασχολήθηκε με το θέμα.

«Σημαίνει πολλά για εμάς» τόνισε, ενώ ο αδερφός του συγκυβερνήτη, Παναγιώτη Βλαχάκου, Νίκος, είπε ότι είναι τιμητική στιγμή για όλες τις οικογένειες. «Η θυσία των τριών αξιωματικών είναι αντίσταση σε κάθε επιβουλο για την Ελλάδα» ανέφερε.

Woman dies in freak accident after scarf gets stuck in escalator

Scarves, or any other loose clothes for that matter, and escalators don't go together. They never have.
This was evident on Thursday when a Montreal woman died after her scarf got caught in an escalator.
The woman was riding down the escalator at the Fabre metro Station when her scarf got snagged in the escalator.
"The lady took the escalators, her scarf got caught into the escalators and at the bottom it got tied up around her neck and it strangled her or she has passed away in the Metro," a police spokesman told Canada's Global News.
"While she was trying to pull out her scarf from the escalator her hair got caught too and from there everything got tied up at the end of the escalators."
A witness who saw the woman stuck in the escalator called the emergency services.
"Half her body (was) on the floor, and less than half her body was on the stairs," Bassam Joubarani who saw two people trying to help her told CBC News. "She was lying on her back ... Her face was normal colour and she was breathing."
The woman was in cardiac arrest when paramedics and firefighters arrived. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators have obtained CCTV footage and the case is being examined by the Quebec coroner's office, police said.
